Finally, the association received permission on June 23rd from the Seoul Metropolitan Government to establish a non-profit organization. As of now, the total number of registered members is 144

At the founding General Assembly of the Korea Association for Public Diplomacy on June 10th, Professor Hochang Shin facilitated the meeting as an interim president and 100 members were in attendance virtually. During the Assembly, Professor Kisuk Cho was elected as the first president of the KAPD, and executive committees were established.

A preparatory committee was formed at the founding conference held at Ewha Womans University early this year, on February 14th. Professor Kisuk Cho was appointed as the chairman of the committee by 17 founding members. Since then, there have been four committee meetings held virtually to establish a new association and to organize an inaugural conference.
